St. Petersburg to Ft. Lauderdale Race

Don’t miss the 2023-2024 Southern Ocean Racing Conference (SORC) series starting with the first of four races: Saint Petersburg to Fort Lauderdale Race on November 8th in Tampa Bay. More than 17 boats have registered and excitement is building for this iconic event.

But wait. there’s more! Pensacola Yacht Club has just announced a feeder race beginning on October 26th from Pensacola to St. Petersburg that has been posted on Yacht Scoring.

Saint Petersburg Yacht Club is rolling out the red carpet for competitors with a social event featuring live music, pictures from past races and a wall of trophies and race memorabilia. Sailors will compete for the LL ‘Lew” McMasters Memorial Trophy last awarded in 1988. Legends like Ted Turner on American Eagle & Dora IV, Ted Hood on Robin, and Dennis Connor on Stinger have all claimed victory in the past Saint Petersburg to Fort Lauderdale Race.

Race Chairman Chris Lewis commented “I am pleased to see the uptake and enthusiasm for this storied race which has a reputation to challenge ocean sailors. The event is also a great way for yachts to move from the Gulf of Mexico to the Bahamas and beyond, so we are also offering a PHRF Class for participants.”

If you haven't secured your spot in this epic race yet, what are you waiting for? Registration and all the details you need can be found at HERE. Further information about dockage options has been published. Contact: Chris Lewis for more details.
